Eddie STATS

Edwin STATS Houghton is an award-winning Writer, Editor + DJ 

Born in NYC and raised in Detroit, Houghton has taken a borderless approach to music since the early ‘90s, both as DJ Eddie STATS and under his by-line as a music journalist.

Based in NYC since 1997, he has been a resident at some of the city’s most influential dance nights including Basement Bhangra [with founder DJ Rekha] and HEAVYWE1GHT SESSIONS [with Max Glazer of Federation Sound].

He has been a Contributing Editor for The FADER and from 2011-2016 served as Editor-in-Chief of Okayplayer.com, as well as helping to launch its Caribbean culture channel LargeUp. From 2019-2023 he curated SoundCloud’s global music community, Vibrations.

He has DJed for Sean Paul, Ziggy Marley, M.I.A., Tego Calderon, Barrington Levy, Apache Indian, Beenie Man and Panjabi MC 

+ Headlined events in London, Milan, San Francisco, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Colombo, Dhaka, Yerevan, Miami, Costa Rica & Kingston, Jamaica.

Throughout, he has remained a champion of emerging scenes and artists both in his DJ sets and in the pages of publications such as GQ, Pitchfork, Trace, Wax Poetics, Interview & Vogue. In addition to his writing and DJing, he currently provides music curation for various streaming music platforms via Third Bridge Creative.
